Wellness and Preventive Care

At Animalia, our priority is getting to know our patients, considering their needs from nose to tail and everything in between. We believe that we best serve our patients when we see the whole of each pet, and we also know how important it is to take the time to thoroughly understand our clients’ goals.

Our focus is on working collaboratively with clients to develop a personalized preventive care plan for their pets. Regular physical exams and screening labwork to check for parasites and medical conditions are just the starting point for keeping your pet feeling their best. We make sure our appointments are long enough so that we have plenty of time to get the full picture of how your pet is doing at home, perform a complete physical exam, and discuss our tailored recommendations for their care.

Diagnostics

Diagnostic testing provides invaluable information as part of a comprehensive approach to helping pets stay healthier and live longer. Whether establishing an individual patient’s baseline, catching potential concerns early, or guiding towards a diagnosis, we have a full complement of tools available to give us a full picture of your pet’s health.

We have relationships with the top reference labs, allowing us to order both routine and specialized tests for our patients. We also have a full complement of diagnostic equipment on-site to offer us fast results when time is of the essence. Our digital radiology system gives us the ability to easily and safely obtain x-ray images that can be immediately shared with veterinary radiologists for expert interpretation, and ultrasound provides another non-invasive option for gaining important details about our patients. Whatever your pet’s specific need, we are ready to find answers in order to offer them the best possible care.

Oral Health Care

Pets’ oral health can have a tremendous impact on their overall health and wellbeing. In addition to looking at the gums, teeth, and tongue during your pet’s regular physical examinations, dental x-rays and sedated oral examinations are other important tools we use as part of keeping your pet’s mouth healthy and pain-free. We perform dental cleanings and oral surgery every day in order to prevent, and when needed treat, periodontal disease that can cause pain, infection, and systemic disease.

Surgery & Endoscopy

At Animalia, we are equipped to perform a wide variety of surgical procedures to meet our patients’ needs. Whether it be a routine spay or neuter or a more advanced procedure, we are committed to the same high standard of care. Prior to any surgery or anesthetic procedure, we first collect and evaluate blood work, complete a thorough physical exam, and review all medical history, allowing us to design a tailored approach for your pet’s anesthesia.
During procedures, our patients are monitored by veterinary technicians who are trained to interpret and document vital signs such as heart rate and rhythm (EKG), respiratory rate and CO2 readings (capnography), body temperature, blood pressure, and blood oxygen saturation (pulse oximetry). This allows us to adjust anesthesia, IV fluids, and medications in order to create the safest anesthetic experience and smoothest recovery possible.
